Rakesh Roshan has addressed the speculations surrounding the development of "Krrish 4". After online rumours emerged of creative and financial disagreements between Hrithik Roshan and Yash Raj Films, many wondered if the project, which marks Hrithik's directorial debut, would ever see the light of day. But the veteran filmmaker has rubbished these reports, assuring everyone that the project is very much on track.
In a nutshell, the rumours claimed that Yash Raj was looking to cap the budget at Rs 350 crore, but Hrithik was aiming for something in the ballpark of Rs 500 crores. In a conversation with Mid-Day, Rakesh said it has to do more with time and scheduling issues and has nothing to do with the budget.
“It’s all nonsense that Hrithik has asked for a Rs 500 crore budget for top-tier VFX and world-class action for his directorial debut, while YRF wants to cap costs at Rs 350 crores. Making a good film catering to a [wide] audience takes time. Even I have taken time for each of my Krrish offerings,” Rakesh added.
Elaborating further on the delay, the "Karan Arjun" and "Koi Mil Gaya" filmmaker joked, “Krrish is on another planet, and we are all waiting for his dates.”
Putting jokes aside, he said the project isn't beset with any issues and that everything is running smoothly. "It’s teamwork between Adi, Hrithik, and me. I will update you when everything is ready.”
Rakesh had directed the first three entries of the franchise. This time, however, he is stepping in as a producer, bankrolling it under his banner Filmkraft jointly with Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films.
