Backed by DC Studios, Warner Bros. Animation, Bad Robot Productions, and 6th & Idaho, the 10-episode second season of "Batman: Caped Crusader" will explore more of Bruce Wayne's adventures, along with introducing Edward Nygma, Carrie Kelly, and Roxy Rocket.
The principal voice cast of Batman: Caped Crusader features an ensemble of prominent actors from Hollywood: Hamish Linklater ("Midnight Mass") as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Jason Watkins as Alfred Pennyworth, Eric Morgan Stuart as James "Jim" Gordon, Krystal Joy Brown as Barbara Gordon, Diedrich Bader as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, Christina Ricci as Catwoman/Selina Kyle, Minnie Driver as The Penguin/Oswalda Cobblepot, Dan Donohue as Clayface/Basil Karlo, and Jamie Chung as Dr. Harleen Quinzel / Harley Quinn.
Heavily inspired by 1940s noir and pulp detective fiction, "Batman: The Caped Crusader" explores the early years of Batman alongside deeper psychological themes, police and political corruption, and highly serialised crime plots rather than standard episodic superhero tropes.
Bruce Wayne is depicted as something almost inhuman and deeply driven, balancing his public, spoiled-billionaire persona with his relentless, terrifying nighttime crusade against Gotham's criminal underbelly. Classic villains like the Penguin and Catwoman appear in fresh, noir-inspired interpretations. The series also heavily focuses on characters fighting the system from within, such as District Attorney Harvey Dent and a reimagined Barbara Gordon.
The reimagining is the brainchild of the show's executive producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm, along with other executive producers James Tucker, Geoffrey Thorne, Sarah Geismer, Rachel Rusch Rich, and Sam Register.
