The action thriller, starring Arjun Sarja, Preity Mukundhan, and Abhirami in lead roles, is performing remarkably well. It is already seen as a hit, given its reported budget of Rs 18 crore. Sacnilk figures show that it has already grossed Rs 26.47 crore worldwide in just five days, which clearly establishes itself as a profitable venture in the small-to-mid-budget range after "Thaai Kizhavi", "With Love", and "Youth". (Suriya's "Karuppu" is the only high-budget release currently running that has secured massive profits.)

Its four-day India gross stands at 20.17 crore and four-day India net comes up to Rs 17.55 crore.

When compared to recent high-profile Tamil flops from late 2025 and early 2026, Blast's five-day performance exposes how heavily those massive-budget disasters collapsed under their own weight. When compared to major flops like "Kara", "Parasakthi" and "Vidaamuyarchi", which grossed high initial numbers due to star power, their massive budgets meant they brought big losses for their distributors.

When looking at the high-profile flops from Tamil cinema that opened huge on Day 1 but then began to suffer massive weekday drops (often 60%–70%) due to terrible word-of-mouth, what "Blast" has done is the exact opposite: it opened small at Rs 1 crore in India but then experienced an impressive exponential surge of 81.4% by Day 3 and kept going until it reached a peak on first Sunday. "Blast", directed by debutant Subash K. Raj, and produced by AGS Entertainment, is already said to have passed its theatrical break-even mark by Day 4.

It has now entered the list of highest-grossing Tamil films of 2026 in just five days and is on track to surpass the lifetime gross of other recent small to mid-budget hits such as "With Love" and "Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil".

Meanwhile, the film is already a big hit in Kerala, too, earning over Rs 2.50 crore gross at the Kerala box office during its first four days.
