Box office analysis: 'Dhurandhar' franchise total now at Rs 3000 crore worldwide after 'Dhurandhar The Revenge' hits 1700 crore milestone

The Ranveer Singh blockbuster spy saga is currently chasing the lifetime records of "Pushpa 2: The Rule" to become the third-highest-grossing Indian film of all time

As of April 13, 2026, the combined worldwide gross of the "Dhurandhar" duology has officially surpassed the Rs 3,000 crore mark. This achievement gives it the distinction of being the first Indian film series to reach this milestone, which was achieved in just 25 days.

"Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge", the sequel to "Dhurandhar", has grossed approximately Rs 1,712.98 crore worldwide as of Day 25. It has notably become the first Hindi film to cross 1,000 crore in net total in the domestic market alone.

The first instalment grossed roughly Rs 1,300+ crore worldwide during its theatrical run.

"Dhurandhar 2" is currently chasing the lifetime records of "Pushpa 2: The Rule" (Rs 1,742 crore) to become the third-highest-grossing Indian film of all time.

When observing the weekly performance of both films, the sequel witnessed an unprecedented opening week performance, becoming the first Hindi film to cross the Rs 1,000 crore net mark domestically.

In terms of its domestic net collection, "Dhurandhar 2" earned Rs 674.17 crore in its first week, followed by Rs 263.65 crore in the second week, Rs 110.60 crore in the third week, and Rs 35.25 crore in the fourth week. The total net in India stands at 1,083.67 crore (and counting).

"Dhurandhar" (Part 1), on the other hand, was noted for maintaining exceptional longevity at the box office, with its third and fourth weeks actually outperforming those of the sequel. It earned Rs 218.00 crore in its first week, followed by Rs 261.50 crore in the second week, followed by Rs 189.30 crore in the third week,  Rs 115.70 crore in the fourth week, and Rs 56.35 crore in the fifth week, taking the India domestic net gross to Rs 840.20 crore.

"Dhurandhar 2" earned more in its first week (Rs 674.17 crore) than the original did in its first two weeks combined (Rs 479.5 crore).

The first film showed a rare upward trend in Week 2 (+19.95%), whereas the sequel saw a sharp drop after its massive opening.

In comparison, "Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge" benefited significantly more from front-loaded earnings and massive opening hype compared to "Dhurandhar" (Part 1).

While the first film relied on strong word-of-mouth and steady weekday holds for its success, the sequel depended on pre-established franchise hype, a wide pan-India release, and aggressive early marketing to generate the bulk of its revenue in the first few days. And we must remember that it achieved all this without a GCC and China release.

"Dhurandhar 2" collected roughly Rs 575–620 crore net domestically in its first seven days, which is nearly three times the Rs 218 crore first-week collection of the original.

When taking the earnings from Day 1 and previews into consideration, the sequel recorded an opening gross of over Rs 96 crore, which is a 265% increase over the original’s day one earnings (Rs 28 to 29 crore).

While "Dhurandhar 2" has surpassed the total lifetime earnings of the first film, trade reports highlight that the first film had stronger "slow-burn" momentum. The second film’s performance, on the other hand, is characterised by a "historic" opening and massive early collections.
