A while after a filmmaker named Santosh Kumar accused "Dhurandhar 2" maker Aditya Dhar of plagiarism, a case in which the Bombay High Court has granted interim relief by ordering the former to refrain from making further damaging statements, the makers of the Ranveer Singh blockbuster are now facing another legal drama.
B62 Studios, the company jointly run by Aditya Dhar, is facing a lawsuit from the production house Trimurti Films for the "unauthorised" use of the song 'Rang De Lal', originally from the 1989 film "Tridev", sung by Amit Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee. It was composed by Viju Shah and Kalyanji-Anandji. The "Dhurandhar 2" team hasn't reportedly sought the necessary permissions, according to Bollywood Hungama.
The further use of the song — or any variations of it — has been prohibited by Trimurti Films, which has sought an injunction to the same end, aside from damages and any other associated compensation. This means the film cannot use the song either in the promo material, theatrical prints or the files sent to streaming platforms.
Meanwhile, "Dhurandhar 2" continues to have a solid run at the box office in its third week. The film's total India gross collection is now at Rs 1,246.67 crore, and total India net collection is Rs 1,041.27 crore as of Day 21.
Combined with the total overseas gross of Rs 407.00 crore so far, the worldwide gross collection now stands at Rs 1,653.67 crore.
Jointly bankrolled by Aditya Dhar, Lokesh Dhar, and Jyoti Deshpande, "Dhurandhar 2" has Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Danish Pandor, Gaurav Gera, Manav Gohil, Ankit Sagar, and Bimal Oberoi playing the other integral characters. Shashwat Sachdev composed the music.
