'Phantom Lawyer' on Netflix: Plot, genre, cast, number of episodes of Korean series

The show comprises a total of 16 episodes, with a biweekly format followed for the release, meaning each week will see the release of two episodes

Among the most promising shows to land on Netflix is the Korean drama "Phantom Lawyer". The show, which began streaming from March 13, is a blend of multiple genres — horror, legal drama, fantasy, and mystery.

The show is headlined by Yoo Yeon-seok, who plays Shin Yi-rang, the committed but introverted lawyer referred to in the title. He soon realises that he suddenly has supernatural powers that help him look out for ghosts after shifting to the space formerly occupied by a shaman.

The official logline, as per My Drama List, is as follows: "Shin Yi-rang, a lawyer who began his practice in a former shaman’s house and started seeing ghosts. Despite his dependable appearance, Yi-rang is actually timid and clumsy. However, in the presence of a ghostly client with a tragic backstory, he reveals an unexpectedly strong determination.

"When he’s 'possessed,' he becomes temporarily overtaken by the traits of the client he’s trying to help, which leads to dramatic personality changes. Han Na-hyeon, an elite lawyer with a perfect track record of wins. Driven solely by her desire to win, she has climbed to the top of her field with ruthless efficiency. However, after losing a case to Yi-rang, her life begins to take an unexpected turn. Initially, she refuses to believe that Yi-rang can see ghosts, but as she witnesses the strange events that unfold before her, she gradually opens up to him and slowly transforms from a cold and calculating professional to someone who begins to heal from her hidden wounds."

Other cast members include Esom, Kim Kyung-nam, Jeon Seok-ho, Yeon Je-hyung, Lee Su-ho, Heo Sung-tae, Kang Myoung-soo, Yoon Jae-jin, and Hyeon Sei-ri.

"Phantom Lawyer" comprises a total of 16 episodes, with a biweekly format followed for the release, meaning each week will see the release of two episodes, until the finale on May 2, 2026.

Produced by Studio S and Mongjakso, "Phantom Lawyer" is directed by Shin Jong-hun, and written by Kim Ga-young and Kang Cheol-gyu
