Is 'Industry' going to get a fifth season? HBO shares official udpate

'Industry' is headlined by Myha'la, Marisa Abela, Kit Harington, Ken Leung, Max Minghella, Kiernan Shipka, Kal Penn, Charlie Heaton and Claire Forlani, among others

It may not have attained the same popularity as, say, a "Game of Thrones", but "Industry" has managed to accomplish an elite (no pun intended) status in HBO's catalogue, winning over many, and continues to gather fresh converts for whom the show went past their radar earlier.

After dropping an even stronger fourth season, the network has officially confirmed a fifth season, while also sharing an update on whether there will be more seasons. Well, the fifth season is going to be the final one, guys. Perhaps, we should all breathe a sigh of relief, because, in this age of unnecessarily stretched seasons, sometimes five is a good number to end things on.

The fourth season, which explores the conflict arising from the arrival of a new company, will end on March 1.

Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, the corporate drama thriller explores ambitious and driven fresh graduates trying to make it in the highly competitive and harsh world of London investment banking.

"We're privileged to have joined the small, esteemed club of dramas that have run for five seasons on HBO. This March marks a decade since we first began to conceive of the world of 'Industry'," the duo said. "For some time now, we have been thinking about how best to end the show on an unparalleled high. Unlike some of our characters, we know when to leave a party... The characters will live on because of their world-class performances. Seeing the HBO ident in front of our work will never stop being a thrill. It remains the best place to make television, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration well into the future."

In an official statement, Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming and Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, said, "For four seasons, 'Industry' has thrilled us while examining power, money, politics, and class. Under Mickey and Konrad's ambitious and singular vision, it has solidified itself as an important contemporary, genre-bending drama in HBO's lineup that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats week after week."

"Industry" is headlined by Myha'la, Marisa Abela, Kit Harington, Ken Leung, Max Minghella, Kiernan Shipka, Kal Penn, Charlie Heaton and Claire Forlani, among others.

It is executive produced by Down and Kay in association with Jane Tranter, Kathleen McCaffrey and Rebecca Ferguson for the BBC.
