In a new interaction, Timothée Chalamet said he became more comfortable trying new things for this performance in the third "Dune" film than he did in the first two.
During a one-on-one conversation with Matthew McConaughey at an event hosted by Variety and CNN at the University of Texas at Austin, Chalamet cited as influences McConaughey's performance in "Interstellar", Heath Ledger's in "The Dark Knight", and Marlon Brando in "Apocalypse Now" while clarifyingg that he is not implying that he is "in the same boat" as them.
“Let’s just say, it’s these big movies where you could sneak in something. A curveball,” he added.
The actor, who is coming off the success of "Marty Supreme", recalls being inspired by his co-star Oscar Isaac, who wasn't afraid of getting theatrical. “He treated it in a Shakespearean way — to play it heightened and not really care about it being heightened,” Chalamet said, admitting that he was a bit "thrown by the futurism", and Isaac compelled him to take “more liberty than ever.”
“I was coming off ‘Beautiful Boy’ and ‘Call Me by Your Name’, and movies that were a lot more naturalistic, and this was a huge movie, so I felt intimidated. But especially on this third one, all the great shit you see on screen is from freedom of movement and freedom of choice. And with Denis, we really had a good rhythm. It’s the eeriest one. It’s a big swing,” shared the “Call Me By Your Name” actor.
