Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, father of superstar Salman Khan, has been admitted to the ICU at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai

Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan has been admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai, sources revealed. The exact reason for his hospitalisation has not been made public.

Salmam Khan was spotted by paparazzi outside Lilvati hospital, where his father is admitted. Salim’s daughters, Alvira Khan, along with in law, Atul Agnihotri and grandson, Ayann Agnihotri, also visited the hospital. His sons Arbaaz and Sohail, and daughter Arpita were also seen.

The legendary screenwriter was hospitalised on Tuesday morning. He is currently in the ICU of the hospital.

Considered one of Hindi Cinema’s greatest screenwriters, Salim Khan is known for writing films like Sholay, Haathi mere Saathi, Zanjeer and Mr India with his former partner Javed Akhtar. The Salim-Javed duo also wrote SeetaAur geeta, Deewar, Don and Kranti. The duo changed how mainstream Bollywood cinemas were written in the 70’s.

Khan won about six Filmfare Awards with his writing partner.

In 2014, he was awarded the Padma Shri, but he declined to accept, saying he deserved a higher honour.

He celebrated his 90th birthday on November 24, 2025. He was last seen publicly when he was casting his vote in the 2026 BMC election in January.
