Arijit Singh, one of India’s most celebrated playback singers, has officially decided not to take any more assignments as a playback vocalist.
In a post on Instagram, the singer announced his decision to his followers. "Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much of love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey," his post read.
Netizens and celebrities were left shocked on reading the announcement post by the singer. However, as per HT, Arijit clarified that he would continue making music.
Some social media users responded, saying they are hopeful of a new version of him through his future projects. "Ok, there are ppl saying it's gonna be the new era of Arijit Singh doing solo projects! I hope that's true," commented a user. While others expressed their shock and disappointment over the statement.
Earlier, comedian Zakir Khan had announced that he would be taking a break from work to focus on his health and well-being.
Known for his quiet personality and aversion to the spotlight, discussions on various social media platforms indicate that the singer may be choosing quality over quantity.
