Bollywood superstar Salman Khan shared the first teaser from his upcoming film 'Battle of Galwan', on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The movie, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, is based on the real story of an India-China conflict that happened five years ago. The teaser finds the actor playing a senior officer in an intense confrontation, with a bruised face.

The footage is accompanied by the logline, "At over 15,000 feet above sea level, in one of the harshest terrains,Courage was tested like never before. Battle of Galwan brings to life a defining chapter of Indian history, a conflict fought in conditions where restraint, resolve and sacrifice became the ultimate weapons. Are you ready to witness this tale of courage?"

The makers have announced a release date: April 17, 2026.

Battle of Galwan is a dramatisation of the skirmish that occurred around India and China at the Galwan Valley — a remote, precipitous region of Ladakh located roughly 15,000 feet above sea-level. The clash, fought without a single bullet being fired — due to diplomatic agreements between the two nations at the time — still became one of the deadliest border conflicts in the history of the two nations.

Salman Khan is supposedly playing a character inspired by Colonel B. Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16th Bihar Regiment, who had been martyred during a clash with the Chinese Army that only saw the use of hand-to-hand combat using rudimentary weapons like sticks and stones.

The film has Chitrangada Singh playing the female lead opposite the Bhajrangi Bhaijaan actor. They are joined by Zeyn Shaw, Ankur Bhatia, and Harshil Shah.

Salman shared in a recent interview that the shoot will be physically demanding, considering the prep work, location and unpredictable weather conditions.
