Adivi Sesh says 'Dacoit' was shot in Telugu and Hindi simultaneously

The film, directed by Shaneil Deo, and co-written by him and Adivi Sesh, is an intense revenge story starring Mrunal Thakur as the female lead and Anurag Kashyap in a pivotal role as a witty cop.

For his upcoming movie Dacoit, actor Adivi Sesh is delivering his lines in Hindi for the Hindi-language version, rather than dubbing them.

The additional responsibility was taxing but necessary, said Adivi Sesh in an interaction with IANS. The actor, who is currently in post-production, added that the essence of some words and phrases, which are "native to that language," is often lost when translating them.

"As an actor, when you truly emote the lines on screen in that language, the audiences connect more. Hence, we decided, while tough, it will always be better to shoot the film and write the film in two languages than just cater to an entire audience base by taking the dubbing route,” he shared.

Featuring Mrunal Thakur as the female lead and director and actor Anurag Kashyap in a significant role, Dacoit also stars Prakash Raj, Sunil, Atul Kulkarni, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla, among others.

In Dacoit, an intense action thriller, Adivi Sesh plays a convict out for revenge after his ex-girlfriend betrays him. As his journey unfolds, unexpected twists emerge.

In May, the team released a teaser in the form of a video of the Shaneil Deo directorial titled 'Fire Glimpse' along with the release date.

The teaser hinted at a rift between two lovers who had to part ways after a seemingly unforgivable act of betrayal. "Hey, Juliet. Everybody betrayed you. I'm not here to do that. I'm here to destroy you," says Adivi Sesh's voiceover in the footage that comes with the tagline, "An explosion of guns & roses… betrayal & trust… and above all, Love & Loss. Witness a wicked FIRE between two EXES."

With story and screenplay by Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo, Dacoit co-stars Anurag Kashyap, Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, Sunil, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla. It is produced by S.S. Creations and Suniel Narang Productions.

Kashyap plays a "sharp-minded, witty and sarcastic" cop in the film. In a recent interview with Variety, the actor-filmmaker called the role "both fun and challenging."

While we don't see many filmmakers opting for the simultaneous approach to shooting their projects in two languages, some big-budget projects, such as Yash's upcoming Toxic: A Fairytale for Grownups, are taking the extra risk and effort. The Geetu Mohandas directorial, produced by Yash himself, is being shot in both Kannada and English to make it more accessible to audiences across the globe.
