'Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders' release date: Here's when Nawazuddin Siddiqui's thriller will premiere on Netflix

Nawazuddin Siddiqui reprises his role as the determined Inspector Jatil Yadav. Also featuring Chitrangada Singh, Rajat Kapoor, and Radhika Apte, the film reunites director Honey Trehan and writer Smita Singh

The sequel to Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Raat Akeli Hai, titled Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, was officially presented at the 56th International Film Festival of India, at Goa. Netflix announced that the thriller, which sees Nawazuddin reprising his role, Inspector Jatil Yadav, will open globally for subscribers on December 19.

Netflix has released the teaser for the same.

As per the official logline, the sequel is set in Kanpur and revolves around the murders of the affluent and influential 'Bansal' family. "Jatil Yadav is drawn into a web of power, deception, blind faith, and long-buried secrets, where every suspect hides a motive and every revelation peels back another layer of darkness," it said.

Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders reunites director Honey Trehan and writer Smita Singh, who collaborated on the original.

In an earlier statement, Nawazuddin, said that this time it's a case that "tests everything he (Jatil) believes in," adding it's "very close to me, flawed and restless, yet relentless in the pursuit of justice."

The actor praised the work of Smita and Honey, sharing that revisiting the character feels like "returning to unfinished business." The sequel is set many years after the events of the 2020 film.

“Smita and Honey have created a world that feels real and raw, where every clue hides a secret. I’m grateful to RSVP, MacGuffin Pictures, and Netflix for giving me the chance to explore new layers of this character. I am excited for audiences to see more from the man behind the uniform,” he said.

The sequel cast comprises Chitrangada Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Deepti Naval, Ila Arun, Revathy, Akhilendra Mishra, Priyanka Setia, and Sanjay Kapoor.

Radhika Apte will once again play Radha. At the end of the first film, it was hinted that she would end up marrying Yadav.
