Filmmaker Aanand L. Rai is reuniting with Dhanush for Tere Ishk Mein, the trailer for which has been released online. The duo, who previously worked together on the cult hit Raanjhanaa, spoke about the film, co-starring Kriti Sanon, at the trailer launch event.
Calling it an "extraordinary story" that came "straight from the heart," Rai shared that it's a film he enjoyed making the film, one he didn't feel the urge to stop making.
Since the reunion would naturally bring up comparisons to their earlier collaboration, Rai said the two films may feel familiar in terms of "emotional intensity" with the same rage and emotions but Tere Ishk Mein, he said, is telling an entirely different, distinct story. "The only common element is the lead actor. Otherwise, this is a new story, and you should watch it as such,” he added.
On working with Rai, Dhanush said it's comforting to work with a filmmaker of Rai's calibre. “Working with Aanand and Himanshu Sharma (writer) is like going back to your hometown and playing on your familiar pitch—with the easiest bowler on the opposite side. They give me such beautiful roles, good challenges, and I keep returning to do these complicated love stories because I truly enjoy the experience.”
The actor, who last directed and starred in Idli Kadai, remarked that the films he makes in his home turf are different from Rai's cinema and that he makes the most of the opportunity given to him and give his best. "When it’s Aanand, I always feel I have to deliver something better than my best,” said the actor.
Produced By Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma jointly with Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, Tere Ishk Mein has music by AR Rahman, who also composed Raanjhanaa.
The film is set for a theatrical release on November 28.
