Prem Rakshith, who won the Oscar for his choreography of the 'Naatu Naatu' song, is set to make his directorial debut and the latest buzz in Tollywood is that Prabhas will play the lead role in this project. It will be a landmark film for Rakshith who has been in the industry since 1993 and won a plethora of awards as choreographer.
Coincidentally, Rakshith's debut as a choreographer also came in a Prabhas film, Chatrapathi that was directed by SS Rajamouli. The 47-year-old has been a regular crew member in many major south Indian films with Mersal, Rangasthalam and the Baahubali series being the major peaks of his career before the RRR moment.
Rakshith shot to international fame after his Oscar award but has been a notable personality in Indian cinema, featuring primarily in Telugu and Tamil films. However, his project with Prabhas is touted to be a pan-Indian film that would have dubbed versions across all the major Indian languages.
Prabhas is currently busy with Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit and is also gearing up for the release of The Raja Saab which is slated to release on Sankranti 2026. As per reports, the Maruti directorial is expected to clash with Vijay's Jana Nayagan as both films currently have a release date of 9th January.
Meanwhile, the sequels of Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD are also in the pipeline. More updates are being awaited regarding this project but inside sources suggest that it will be another grand visual spectacle with several other big names of Indian cinema also expected to join Prabhas in this venture.
However, with the Rebel Star having a packed schedule himself, it means that this film might go on floors only in 2027.
