Chadwick Boseman, who immortalised MCU's 'Black Panther' (King T'Challa of Wakanda), will be granted a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame — five years after his passing due to colon cancer. The honour will be accepted by Boseman's wife Simone Ledward-Boseman, reports said.

Chadwick Boseman’s star will be located at 6904 Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honoured to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame... His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world,” Ana Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, said in a statement.

For the unversed, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a public monument in California that consists of more than 2,800 five-pointed stars embedded in the sidewalks in the Hollywood district. The stars honour the achievements of prominent figures in the entertainment industry. It was conceived in 1953 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the first permanent stars were installed in 1960.

What happened to Chadwick Boseman?

MCU's 'Black Panther' had created a legacy of its own, and will always stand out among the legion of superhero movies that have hit the big screen. Before 2018’s 'Black Panther', Boseman had essayed other notable roles — baseball star Jackie Robinson in the movie '42', and musician James Brown in 'Get On Up'.

But with 'Black Panther', Boseman scripted history. With a predominantly black cast, 'Black Panther' was the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie with a black actor in the lead. The film that celebrated African culture was an ode to black power. The character of ‘Black Panther’ was initially born in the backdrop of the civil rights movement, and reflected the voice of that time. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Jack Kirby, first appearing in 'Fantastic Four #52' in 1966.

The film that broke box office records in Trump’s America in 2018 was also seen as Marvel’s ‘most political movie’, and brought MCU its first Oscar wins, and its first-ever Best Picture nomination.

In 2022, he had received a posthumous Creative Arts Emmy Award for his voice performance in the Disney+ series 'What If...?' He was also nominated for a posthumous Oscar for lead actor for his role in 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom'.
