At the audio launch for debutant writer-director Vikarnan Ashok's Mask, filmmaker Vetrimaaran, who is presenting the Kavin-starrer, revealed that some creative inputs of Nelson Dilipkumar (Doctor, Jailer) have been included in the film.
A heist thriller, Mask will also have Nelson providing the voiceover. Andrea Jeremiah and SP Chockalingam are producing it jointly.
The Visaranai and Aadukalam director also shared that when Kavin signed on as the lead actor, his 2024 box office hit Star hadn't even come out. Interestingly, his follow-up feature, Bloody Beggar, was produced by Nelson.
Mask features Ruhani Sharma as the female lead, while Andrea Jeremiah plays the antagonist.
It has music composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography by R.T. Rakasekhar, and editing by R. Shri Ramar.
Mask is slated for a theatrical release on November 21. The makers have released a trailer online.
At the event, Vetrimaaran also shared an update on Arasan, his upcoming feature with Silambarasan. It will start rolling on November 24. The film is a spin-off set in the same universe as Vada Chennai, with the events in the Dhanush-starrer said to have a direct connection to the events in Arasan.
Vetrimaaran, whose last release was Viduthalai-Part 2, was earlier supposed to direct a project with Suriya called Vaadivaasal; however, the filmmaker has put it on hold due to writing delays and other technicalities that concern the safety of everyone, including the actors and animals involved in the film. He then decided to make the Simbu project in the meantime.
