The news of a sequel to Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Raat Akeli Hai has been doing the rounds for a while. The follow-up to the direct-to-Netflix release has been titled Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders.

Also returning are director Honey Trehan and writer Smita Singh, who collaborated on the original.

In a statement, Nawazuddin, who reprises his character, Inspector Jatil Yadav, said that this time it's a case that "tests everything he believes in," adding it's "very close to me, flawed and restless, yet relentless in the pursuit of justice."

The actor praised the work of Smita and Honey, sharing that revisiting the character feels like "returning to unfinished business." The sequel is set many years after the events of the 2020 film.

“Smita and Honey have created a world that feels real and raw, where every clue hides a secret. I’m grateful to RSVP, MacGuffin Pictures, and Netflix for giving me the chance to explore new layers of this character. I am excited for audiences to see more from the man behind the uniform,” he said.

The sequel cast comprises Chitrangada Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Deepti Naval, Ila Arun, Revathy, Akhilendra Mishra, Priyanka Setia, and Sanjay Kapoor.

Radhika Apte will once again play Radha. At the end of the first film, it was hinted that she would end up marrying Yadav.

As per the official logline, Jatil Yadav will be investigating a "brutal murder that exposes dark, long-hidden secrets within an influential family. As the investigation unfolds, Jatil finds himself once again navigating the fine line between truth and consequence, uncovering layers of deception that challenge his own sense of justice."

Before its Netflix premiere, the film will make its world premiere at the latest edition of the International Film Festival of Goa (IFFI).
