The two major Diwali Tamil releases, Dude and Bison Kaalamaadan, have both reported drops as they move towards two weeks at the box office. Both films have, however, done enough to attain HIT status with Dude certain to become a SUPERHIT due to the outstanding first week numbers.
The second weekend was led by Bison Kaalamaadan which has sustained brilliantly due to outstanding word-of-mouth while Dude has seen a downward trend since the second week started. The ten-day collections in India for Dude stood at Rs 80 crore gross while Bison Kaalamaadan collected Rs 44 crore during the same period.
The second Monday was a downer for both films with the Tamil Nadu gross falling under Rs 1.50 crore mark. The fall isn't much for Bison Kaalamaadan as it has steadily declined with normal box office trends but Dude has capitulated considerably after a sensational first week where it took full toll of Diwali holidays.
On Day 12, both films are once again operating at low levels and might struggle to hit Rs 1 crore in the home state and the India gross might just about go past the Rs 1 crore mark. The 12-day India gross, as per early estimates, for Bison Kaalamaadan would be around Rs 47 crore while Dude is expected to be around the Rs 83 crore mark.
Dude has entered into the top-10 grossers of the year at the Tamil Nadu box office and is expected to finish at the sixth or seventh spot. It is Pradeep Ranganathan's second Rs 100 crore film after Dragon.
