Famous Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda, 35, died after a severe road accident on September 27. Jawanda, who fell into a coma after the accident, was on life support and intensive care for nearly 10 days for his injuries at Fortis Hospital, Mohali.
The artist had suffered from severe head and spinal cord injuries after his motorcycle collided with a stray cow in the middle of a road in Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
According to the doctors, Jawanda had shown minimal brain activity and no significant improvement in his health after the accident.
Hailing from Sector 71, Mohali, Jawanda was known for his songs, including "Suname," "Kamla," "Mera Dil," and "Sardari." He had also acted in films such as Jind Jaan Mindo Taseeldarni, and Kaka Ji.
He debuted in 2014, with the single Munda Like Me. He rose to fame for his melodious singing and lyrics that celebrate Punjabi culture. He has over 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Jawanda originally wanted to be a police officer but chose to do music instead according to his Apple Music biography.
Aam Aadmi party leader Manish Sisodia expressed his condolences in a post on X saying "Deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Rajvir Jawanda. Gone too soon, but his soulful voice will live on in every heartbeat of Punjab. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and millions of fans. May Waheguru bless his soul with eternal peace."
Fans are also paying tribute to the singer on social media.
