Pawan Kalyan in 'They Call Him OG'

Pawan Kalyan's latest release They Call Him OG achieved a big milestone durings it second weekend. The action entertainer became the biggest worldwide grosser among Telugu films this year, overtaking Venkatesh's Sankranthiki Vasthunam which had grossed Rs 255 crore worldwide.

After 11 days of theatrical run, They Call Him OG has attained a worldwide gross of Rs 284 crore. It is comfortably the biggest hit of Kalyan's career. The Rs 300 crore mark looks tough as the film has slowed down considerably after the first weekend due to mixed reviews. However, with no big releases till Diwali, it may just have the legs to get there.

The competition, though, is intense with Kantara: Chapter 1 making waves in Telugu states, just like it has all over the country and abroad. The Rishab Shetty-starrer has zoomed past Rs 50 crore gross from Telugu states alone in the first four days and has affected They Call Him OG's already declining box office collections.

The Kalyan-starrer has collected Rs 219 crore gross from India across 11 days with the overseas figure coming to Rs 65 crore approximately. The Dussehra holidays and Gandhi Jayanthi holiday helped the film to stay afloat during the weekdays. The ticket-rates of the film were also brought down to normal levels after being hiked up extremely during the first weekend.

Majority of the film's collections have come from the Telugu version with Tamil, Hindi and Kannada producing negligible figures. The overall rights of the film is valued at Rs 166 crore with the Telugu states rights alone going for Rs 137 crore. It means that the worldwide share needs to go past Rs 170 crore, which might happen, but breakeven in every territory looks out of reach.
