Fantasy-action flick 'Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra' became the first movie ever to cross 50,000+ shows in Kerala. The news was broken on Thursday by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films, the production house behind the Mollywood epic.
The news comes only a day after 'Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra' has become the biggest Malayalam box office hit of the 21st century. Produced at a budget of Rs 30 crore, the Kalyani Priyadarshan-led female superhero movie had witnessed 1.18 crore footfalls as per data till Wednesday. The Dominic Arun directorial is also the third Malayalam movie to cross one crore footfalls after 'Pulimurugan' and 'Manjummel Boys.'
"Breaking records! LOKAH makes history as the first movie to cross 50,000+ shows in Kerala!" Wayfarer Films announced on X on Thursday morning.
The movie is inching closer to the Rs 300 crore collection mark after it collected Rs 292.35 crore worldwide till September 30. Its overseas box office collection stood at Rs 118 crore while the gross domestic collection was recorded at Rs 174.35 crore.

How the film performs in its sixth week will also depend on the fate of Kantara: Chapter 1 and Idli Kadai. If these two films both gain hugely positive reviews, it could dent 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra' in its pursuit of being the top Kerala grosser. It would still continue to collect but at much lower levels and that would make those Rs 8-9 crore a difficult task to attain. But if even one of the two new releases gets mixed to negative feedback, 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra' could get to the milestone in its next weekend itself. There is also a Hindi release in the form of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari but it is not really expected to affect' Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.'
The teaser officially announcing the sequel of the movie, featuring Tovino Thomas in lead role helped the theatre run with a much-needed boost, many believe. The Dulquer Salmaan-Tovino combo in the teaser has already crossed the 5 million mark on YouTube.
