'Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra' sees 1.18 crore footfalls, turns biggest Malayalam box office hit of 21st century

Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra is breaking one record after another in Mollywood as it continues to lure filmgoers to theatres for the last five weeks. The latest achievement of the Kalyani Priyadarshan-led female superhero movie is that it has now become the biggest Malayalam box office hit of the 21st century.

Industry analyst AB George posted on X that Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra has seen 1.18 crore footfalls in theatres, a feat that no other Malayalam movie has been abled to achieve in the 21st century.

The Dominic Arun directorial is also the third Malayalam movie to cross one crore footfalls in this century, wrote George. The other movies that have already surpassed this milestone include Pulimurugan and Manjummel Boys.

Produced by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films at a budget of Rs 30 crore, Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra has collected RS 292.35 crore worldwide till September 30. Its overseas box office collection stood at 118 crore while the gross domestic collection was recorded at Rs 174.35 crore.

Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra netted Rs 1.26 crore till 6 pm on October 1, taking its total net domestic collection to Rs 150.16 crore, according to Sacnilk.
