Ever since Mammootty returned after recovering from a concerning health ailment, fans have been awaiting an update on his upcoming film with Mohanlal, directed by Mahesh Narayanan. On Monday, Anto Joseph, producer and longtime associate of Mammootty, shared that the megastar will resume shoot from October 1, for the epic thriller's Hyderabad schedule.

Joseph's note on his Instagram handle says, "Dearest Mammukka is coming... To continue acting in the film directed by Mahesh Narayanan from October 1."

Mammootty was on an eight-month hiatus for the treatment. While thanking fans and well-wishers for their prayers and support, Joseph added, "The time just passed can be considered just a small, unexpected interval, which was overcome by the strength of everyone's prayers and presence of mind."

The film, titled Patriot, has Mohanlal in a prominent role alongside Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara and others. The team has so far completed 60% of its portions. It is bankrolled jointly by MammoottyKampany and Anto Joseph Film Company.

Filming began in Sri Lanka in November last year, followed by schedules in Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates. Other locations reportedly include London, Thailand, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Kochi.

Billed as a thriller, the film is editor-turned-director Mahesh Narayanan's biggest venture yet. He is known for the films Take Off, CU Soon, Malik, and Ariyippu. He also debuted as a cinematographer with the Fahadh-starrer Malayankunju, for which he wrote the script.

Mammootty, who was last seen in Bazooka, is looking forward to the most-awaited Kalamkaval, in which he is playing a lead role, of a negative shade, opposite Vinayakan, who plays the other main lead. It is helmed by debutant Jithin K Jose. The recently released promos tease another scene-stealing performance.
