'Madharaasi' OTT release: When and where to see Sivakarthikeyan's action thriller?

Directed by AR Murugadoss, this psychological action thriller stars Sivakarthikeyan, Biju Menon, Rukmini Vasanth, and Vidyut Jammawal, among others

Sivakarthikeyan's latest release, Madharaasi, will be available for viewing at home nearly a month after its theatrical release. The AR Murugadoss-directed film, which was released in theatres on September 5, will begin streaming on Prime Video from October 1.

The psychological action thriller centers on Sivakarthikeyan's protagonist, who has a tragic past. The cast includes acclaimed Malayalam actor Biju Menon (Ayyappanum Koshiyum), Rukmini Vasanth (Saptha Saagaradache Ello), Vidyut Jammawal (Thuppakki), and Shabeer Kallarakkal (Sarpatta Parambarai).

In its review of Madharaasi, THE WEEK wrote: "Sivakarthikeyan plays a trauma-riddled yet empowered hero in a film with some neatly done high-octane action sequences, self-aware narrative, and surprising merits that overshadow its minor flaws" and that it "boasts some delightful surprises which prove to be its principal merits, ones that successfully overshadow its shortcomings. It's a film that feels more alive as it inches towards the intermission, and attains maximum power afterwards."

Scripted by Murugadoss himself, Madharaasi is produced by N. V. Prasad under the banner of Sri Lakshmi Movies.

Malayali cinematographer Sudeep Elamon, who shot films like Ayyappanum Koshiyum and Jana Gana Mana, is the director of photography. Madharasi marks his Tamil debut.

Veteran A Sreekar Prasad handled the editing, while Anirudh Ravichander composed the soundtrack.

Sivakarthikeyan, who was earlier seen in Amaran, with Sai Pallavi, is known for his work in audience favourites such as director Madonne Ashwin's superhero drama Maaveeran, Nelson Dilipkumar's Doctor, and Cibi Chakravarthi's Don — all of which were box office hits.

The actor will be next seen in Parasakthi, a period political action thriller directed by national award winner Sudha Kongara ("Soorarai Pattru", Irudhi Suttru")
