Less than a week after Aryan Khan's Netflix show Bads of Bollyood was released, there is a fresh controversy over a scene featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the series.
Based on a complaint, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has raised concerns over a scene from Bads of Bollywood Season 1 Episode 7 where Ranbir is seen smoking an e-cigarette without any disclaimer or warning. In this regard, the human rights panel has asked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as well as the Mumbai Police to submit an Action Taken Report.
Complainant Vinay Joshi also sought action against not just Ranbir Kapoor, but also the producers of 'Bads of Bollywood' as well as Netflix for violating laws and spreading harmful content.
Following this, the panel issued a notice to the secretary of the ministry of information and broadcasting to take appropriate action and stop contents that may wrongly influence the young generation. The plaintiff claimed that the depiction of vaping without warning could mislead youngsters.
Joshi also raised concerns that such irresponsible content promotes illegal activities, disrespects law enforcement and harms public health and morality.
The Mumbai Police Commissioner has been directed to investigate the source of electronic cigarettes.
Besides lead actor Lakshya Lalwani, Bads of Bollywood features an ensemble cast of Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Sahher Bambba, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, and Gautami Kapoor. However, its is the cameos by A-listers like Ranbir Kapoor that got attention of Bollywood fans. Some of the notable cameos included Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar and Ranveer Singh.
