Easter eggs, cameos and real-life references in 'The Bads of Bollywood' strike a chord with fans

Bollywood fans were treated to a feast of entertainment on Thursday after Aryan Khan's directorial debut The Bads of Bollywood hit Netflix in the afternoon.

Celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Kajol were the first to praise the efforts of Shah Rukh Khan's son after Wednesday's special premiere. But as soon as The Bads of Bollywood arrived on Netflix, fans too joined them, echoing similar sentiments.

One of the users called it a fun show, saying, “I feared it might slip into commercial tropes instead of satire but it didn’t. Aryan Khan made a good show. Comedy was the main highlight, laughed this much after a long time watching an Indian film or show.”

Another one said The Bads of Bollywood is not just a spoof but a nostalgic ride. “[Aryan Khan] has also made a tribute to the stories that have been entertaining us for decades,” the user said.

A third user felt the Netflix show was “cliched” but admitted that it was solid entertainment. “Easter eggs to be found. Familiar faces to be spotted. Should be fun if Aryan Khan put it well together. Triple cameo by Khans is spectacular. After 30yrs of rivarly they are willing to support one another and their kids.”

Yet another fan said that Aryan understood the commercial assignment, pointing out that “he presents Shah Rukh Khan better than mainstream directors.”

One of the fans praised the Bollywood fan in Aryan Khan, posting, “The number of easter eggs & references to real life events & personalities in #BadsOfBollywood just showcases what a hardcore Bollywood fan Aryan Khan is. There can be a full episode on just these examples!”

A user, who was touched by the fifth episode of the seven-episode show, wrote, “The episode 5 of #TheBadsOfBollywoodOnNetflix has many ups and downs throughout. This keeps you on the edge as we see, Aasmaan getting out from #Karan's film, Aasmaan and Karishma's breaks and a tragic end with Aasmaan's father's death! it's a time for a major turn watch it.”

A viewer, who thoroughly enjoyed the show, said Aryan made a superb debut as a director. “#TheBadsOfBollywood has what most of the #Bollywood films are missing lately — ENTERTAINMENT GALORE! And it’s too much fun! People who’ve been observing this industry over the years will find many reasons to laugh out loud.”

Giving 3.5 stars for the show, another viewer posted that Bads of Bollywood is entertaining byt pointed out that some of the emotional scenes feel stretched and dragged. “Confident direction from Aryan Khan; Raghav Juyal is the heart of the show; Comic liners work well; Lakshya has huge potential; That SRK/Emraan/Wankhede cameo👌”
