After its successful theatrical run in Karnataka and Kerala, the Kannada-language horror comedy 'Su from So' will be available for home viewing for subscribers of JioHotstar. The makers have officially announced that it will begin streaming on Sept. 9 on the platform.

Written and directed by JP Thuminad in his directorial debut, the film became an instant hit in Karnataka. After its Kerala releases on August 1, the film won over Malayalis for its rooted storytelling and high-quality dubbing, a rare exception for non-Malayalam films released in the state.

Actor and filmmaker Raj B Shetty produced 'Su from So' under his home banner Lighter Buddha Films, and made a cameo appearance in the film. Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films handled the Kerala theatrical distribution of the film.

Written and directed by JP Thuminad in his directorial debut, the film made waves among both cinephiles and filmmakers alike. Thuminad, also an actor known for his work in films like 'Saptha Sagaradaache Ello: Side B' and 'Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana', plays the protagonist as well. Su from So is short for 'Sulochana from Someshwara'.

The film has a deliberately "exaggerated" and "caricaturish" behaviour. On doing the guest role, Raj B Shetty earlier told OTTPlay: “When JP Thuminad asked me to do a role in Su From So, I wondered whether to do it, because I had not done such a caricaturish character, other than, perhaps, '777 Charlie'. Since I am a filmmaker, I was not worried about whether it would affect me in terms of audiences seeing me as a comedian or not being able to do protagonist roles going forward. All that mattered to me was what my presence would do for the film and for me as a producer. Most importantly, doing the role would elevate the film, so I figured it was best that I be a part of Su From So.”

The film's other cast members include Shanil Gautham, Deepak Raj Panaje, Prakash Thuminad, Mim Ramadas, and Sandhya Arekere.
