In Kill Boksoon, which came out on Netflix in 2023, we saw a single mom, Gil Boksoon, trying to juggle her personal life and her profession as a... gulp... contract killer. Now, a spin-off from the world of the film, titled Mantis, is hitting Netflix on September 26.

The film will follow an assassin, Mantis, who is caught up in an intense competition with other assassins for a coveted spot, while undertaking his new assignment after returning from a vacation.

The film comes from the imagination of Byun Sung-hyun, director of Kill Boksoon, this time in the capacity of a co-writer with director Lee Tae-sung who worked as an assistant director with the former on Kill Boksoon. Mantis marks Lee's feature-length directorial debut.

SEE AT Film Co., LTD, the company that bankrolled Kill Boksoon, Love and Leashes, and Kingmaker, is the producer of the film.

Mantis aka Han-ul, is played by Yim Si-wan ("Unlocked", "Emergency Declaration"). Interestingly, the character was mentioned in Kill Boksoon as an assassin on vacation. This means that the events of Mantis take place after that of Kill Boksoon

Yim Si-wan has previously appeared in another notable Korean thriller The Merciless, in which he played an undercover police officer who manages to get himself jailed for the purpose of a perilous assignment.

The other principal characters in Mantis include actress Park Gyu-young ("Sweet Home", "Celebrity") as a contract killer recently fired by MK Enterprises, the company she works for, and Jo Woo-jin ("Narco-Saints", "Alienoid") plays a retired assassin who also happens to be the mentor of Mantis, and later the CEO of MK Ent.
