As per the latest buzz, an earth-shattering combination may finally happen, after a long gap of 46 years. Reports of a Kamal Haasan-Rajinikanth reunion is doing the rounds on social media. And who is going to direct? Is it Lokesh Kanagaraj? All hints seem to point at the Coolie director.

The filmmaker, known for the blockbusters Kaithi, Vikram and Leo, is said to have met the senior superstars a while back to discuss the project which is rumoured to be a tale of two ageing gangsters.

The reports also say that Kamal Haasan’s production house Raajkamal Films International, which bankrolled 'Vikram', will be jointly backing the film in association with Red Giant Movies ('Thug Life', 'Indian 2').

What does this mean for Kaithi 2? The Karthi-led project was expected to be the next in line for Lokesh after Coolie, but if the wheels on this mega project are going to roll earlier than expected, it would mean Kaithi 2 will be pushed further.

An official announcement with regard to both is awaited.
