Actor Vinayakan has once again stirred up trouble on Facebook by using offensive language and implicit imagery intended as a response to someone who texted him and questioned his "double standards" in the wake of the death of communist icon V.S. Achuthandan, for whom Vinayakan paid last respects in the form of slogans.

For context, the post harks back to Vinayakan making headlines in 2023 when, after former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy passed away, the actor posted a live video wherein he questioned why the government declared a three-day mourning and holiday as a mark of respect. He also demanded to know the "significance" of one of the most revered figures in Kerala politics. Following this, a police case was registered against him.

Along with the late politician's name, the Jailer actor also mentioned other late Indian leaders, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, K. Karunakaran, and George Eden.

Vinayakan also posted this alongside a picture of him posing with his pet dog, which naturally drew the ire of netizens and political groups who demanded that strict action be taken against him.

When Manorama News had quizzed Vinayakan about the Oommen Chandy post in an interview, the actor denied it, chalking it up to the public's issue with his "caste and colour" and that his primary grievance was with "the media."

He had said, "Of the many people who had lashed out at me over the controversial remarks regarding the funeral procession of Oommen Chandy, most had issues with my caste and colour. My criticism was against the media.

Also, in May this year, Vinayakan was arrested from a hotel in Kollam for allegedly causing a ruckus while under the influence of alcohol.
