Three popular releases arrive on JioHotstar, Zee5, and Prime Video, one of which is the second season of an original investigative series

Mutliple releases are anticipated on Friday June 20, which include some big titles on the big screen such as the latest Aamir Khan-starrer Sitaare Zameen Par, Danny Boyle's zombie apocalypse thriller 28 Years Later, and the Dhanush-Narajuna drama Kuberaa.

Ground Zero 

Streaming platform: Amazon Prime Video 

Release date: June 20

Ground Zero has Emraan Hashmi playing the real-life BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey who spearheaded an operation to seek the whereabouts and terminate Ghazi Baba, aka Rana Tahir Nadeem, the top Jaish-e-Mohammed commander who masterminded the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament attack. 

'Kerala Crime Files' Season 2 

Streaming platform: JioHotstar

Release date: June 20

The follow-up to the Malayalam-language investigative series sees the return of actors Aju Varghese and Lal while introducing a new lead cop played by Arjun Radhakrishnan ("Rocket Boys", "Kannur Squad"). Scripted by Kishkindha Kaandam-fame Bahul Ramesh, Season 2 deals with the case of a missing Civil Police Officer.

Prince and Family 

Streaming platform: Zee5 

Release date: June 20

In this Malayalam comedy drama that attempts to capitalise on the "vintage" Dileep charm characteristic of his eary comic work, the actor plays a middle-aged boutique owner who, after remaining unmarried due to various unrealistic demands, ends up with someone who is his opposite.

Detective Sherdil 

Streaming platform: Zee5

Release date: June 19

Detective Sherdil has Diljit Dosanjh as the eponymous character — an unconventional sleuth with a unique sense of humour — investigating an Indian businessman's murder that unravels new information as he digs deeper. The cast includes Boman Irani, Diana Penty, Chunky Panday and Banita Sandhu among others.

Sitaare Zameen Par 

Release date: June 20

A remake of the Spanish-language film Champions (2018), the film has Aamir Khan playing a once-celebrated basketball coach whose career takes a downturn due to his harsh attitude and politically incorrect behaviour. After a DUI episode, the court assigns him as a trainer to a group of neurodivergent individuals for a national-level championship. 

Elio 

Release date: June 20

Pixar's new sci-fi animated film involves a space and extraterrestrial-fixated boy named Elio, who cannot believe it when he is suddenly transported to an interplanetary organisation entitled the Communiverse, which comprises representatives from different parts of the galaxy who assume he is Earth's leader. 

28 Years Later 

Release date: June 20

The new entry in the popular zombie movie series is the first of a new trilogy, with no connections to 28 Weeks Later. Danny Boyle, who made 28 Days Later and Slumdog Millionaire, said its story is influenced by the first film but is much more ambitious. It stars Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Kuberaa 

Release date: June 20

Headlined by Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, this Sekhar Kammula directorial has Dhanush essaying an unassuming beggar who joins hands with a determined police officer (Nagarjuna) to stop a corrupt and influential figure, but something unexpected happens along the way. 

The Phoenician Scheme 

Release date: June 20

Wes Anderson's eagerly awaited new film sees the extraordinarily gifted filmmaker presenting another singular and quirky story, reuniting with actors Benicio del Toro, Bryan Cranston and Scarlett Johansson after Asteroid City, along with other big names such as Tom Hanks, Riz Ahmed, Jeffrey Wright, Benedict Cumberbatch, and other frequent collaborators Willem Dafoe and Billy Murray.
