The intriguing teaser of Adivi Sesh-Mrunal Thakur's Dacoit has been released, in the form of a video titled 'fire glimpse' along with the release date. The Shaneil Deo directorial will hit theatres on December 25 for a Christmas release — styled as 'ExMas' in the teaser.
The teaser hints at a rift between two lovers who had to go their separate ways after a seemingly unforgivable act of betrayal. "Hey, Juliet. Everybody betrayed you. I'm not here to do that. I'm here to destroy you," says Adivi Sesh's voiceover in the footage that comes with the tagline, "An explosion of guns & roses… betrayal & trust… and above all, Love & Loss. Witness a wicked FIRE between two EXES."
As per the official logline, Dacoit "follows an angry convict seeking vengeance against his former girlfriend who betrayed him."
With story and screenplay by Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo, Dacoit co-stars Anurag Kashyap, Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, Sunil, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla. It is produced by S.S. Creations and Suniel Narang Production.
Anurag Kashyap plays a "sharp-minded, witty and sarcastic" cop in the film. In a recent interview with Variety, the actor-filmmaker called the role "both fun and challenging"
"The conundrums of duty versus dharma, and to go about doing his job with a dry sense of humour is fantastic. I am truly looking forward to playing this character in two languages, shooting in Hindi, as well as in Telugu. To get the same impact in both languages is the challenging part, something I am thoroughly enjoying," added the Gangs of Wasseypur filmmaker.
