The Mumbai police's closure report in the Disha Salian death case has invited criticism from Shiv Sena, with party leader and spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam alleging that the rival Shiv Sena (UBT) was maligning Satish Salian, Disha’s father.
According to reports in Marathi media, the police closure report mentioned that Disha’s father Satish Salian had an extramarital affair which was troubling her, and that she had told her friends about it. The report also cited misuse of Disha’s money by her father as one of the several reasons for her depression, and termed her death a suicide.
Disha was the former manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The two died within a span of a few days in June 2020. As per the police, she died by suicide by jumping off the 12th floor of her building in Jankalyan Nagar in north Mumbai on June 8.

Malvani police recorded statements of Disha's friends and witnesses, which revealed that she was depressed due to failed projects, misunderstanding with friends and misuse of her money by her father. The police had also recorded statements of actors with whom Disha was communicating on behalf of her company.

Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, Nirupam demanded that Mumbai police disclose the truth behind the closure report in the Disha Salian case. Accusing the Shiv Sena (UBT) of trying to suppress the case as Uddhav Thackeray was the Maharashtra chief minister then, he said, “Did the Malvani police try to cover up the case under Uddhav Thackeray’s pressure?” He alleged that the closure report included false information to defame the Salian family. “Aaditya Thackeray and his associates are the prime accused in Disha’s murder, and now they are attacking her father’s reputation,” Nirupam said.
Last week, Salian's father moved Bombay High Court seeking a fresh probe into the mysterious circumstances under which his daughter was found dead. He also urged the court to order an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray, and transfer of the probe to the CBI.
