Phoebe Dynevor, known for her roles in the series Bridgerton and the Netflix corporate thriller Fair Play, is in negotiations to join Jake Gyllenhaal in a project set to be directed by M Night Shyamalan.
According to a report in Deadline, the film is a supernatural romantic thriller based on an original story created by Shyamalan and bestselling novelist Nicholas Sparks, from which a movie-friendly screenplay and a novel are being developed simultaneously.
Shyamalan and Ashwin Rajan are bankrolling it through their company, Blinding Edge Pictures, in association with Theresa Park and Marc Bienstock. Nicholas Sparks is serving as an executive producer.
Dynevor, who is also starring in the upcoming A24 film Famous with Zac Efron (based on Blake Crouch's novel), was commended for her strong performance in Fair Play opposite Alden Ehrenreich.
Shyamalan is coming off the success of his last film, Trap, starring Josh Hartnett. Worldwide box office figures for the film suggest it was a profitable endeavour.
Aside from the yet-untitled Shyamalan film, Gyllenhaal is also part of his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal's next directorial, a musical monster feature titled The Bride, in addition to a sequel to Doug Liman's Road House, and a Guy Ritchie action thriller In the Grey.
Gyllenhaal is also a lead cast member in Apple TV+'s ongoing series, Presumed Innocent.
