The news of Tom Holland returning for the fourth film in his standalone Spider-Man franchise was confirmed recently. Filming for the next chapter in the Marvel web-slinger's adventure is set to commence later this year after Holland completes filming Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.

Details of other cast members have not been revealed, except for the possibility of Stranger Things star Sadie Sink joining the film backed jointly by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, as per entertainment outlet Deadline.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed another Marvel property Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is on board.

Considering the last Spider-Man ended with Peter Parker left with no option but to submit to an "alternate option" suggested by Doctor Strange, following a series of chaotic events that compromised the former's identity, the next film is expected to begin Parker's life with a fresh slate alongside fresh characters.

As per online speculations, Sadie Sink might be expected to play Jean Grey from the X-Men universe.

In Stranger Things, Sink played Max Mayfield, introduced in Season 2. The fifth and final season is slated for premiere later this year. Aside from Sink, this season will see the return of actors Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp, among others.

Before Stranger Things made her popular, Sink was part of shows like The Americans and American Odyssey. She was recently seen in Darren Aronofsky's The Whale as the estranged daughter of Brendan Fraser's character.
