Concert-goers are sure to break their banks this year. After major acts like Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes and the many stars featured at Mumbai’s Lollapalooza, rock band Guns N’ Roses have announced that they will come to India as part of their Because What You Want & What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things Tour to perform their iconic tracks this May.
The band’s official Instagram account announced the news with a post captioned: “We’re comin’ to India! This is going to be special. May 17, Mumbai. Pre-sales are coming soon.” The band – featuring Axl Rose (vocals, piano), Duff McKagan (bass) and Slash (lead guitar) – will take the stage at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse.
This will mark the band’s return to India, having last performed in the country in December 2012, over twelve years ago. At that time, the rock trio performed in various cities like Bangalore and Gurgaon, the crowd buzzing with excitement as the American rock band was poised to play 20 years prior but cancelled due to religious riots, according to The New York Times.
When and where to purchase tickets
BookMyShow will be the official ticket provider for the show. A pre-sale for the show will run from March 17 at 12pm to March 19 at 12pm, exclusive to Kotak Mahindra Bank cardholders. The general sale for the show will initiate on March 19 at 4pm.
Guns N’ Roses are expected to play hits from their debut and most successful album Appetite for Destruction, featuring songs like Sweet Child o’ Mine, Welcome to the Jungle, and Paradise City.
Their other hits include November Rain, Knocking on Heaven’s Door, and Patience.
