It has been learnt that following an alleged suicide attempt on Tuesday, playback singer Kalpana Raghavendar was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad's Nizampet.
As per reports, the residents' association sensed something awry when her number was unreachable for two days and notified the police who forced their way into the home and found her unconscious, following which she was rushed to the hospital. She had supposedly taken sleeping pills, but the reason is yet to be ascertained.
She is currently under treatment with ventilator support, with her condition reported as stable. As per a PTI report, she is out of danger.
Apparently, her husband, who was in Chennai, was also unable to reach her before. After being informed of the news, he has returned to Hyderabad.
The daughter of playback singers TS Raghavendra and Sulochana, Kalpana began singing at age five. During the course of her illustrious career that commenced in the 1990s, she has lent her voice to over 1,500 songs across languages.
She also attained national-level popularity after her participation and subsequent win in Season 5 of Asianet's Star Singer Malayalam and Season 1 of Big Boss Telugu. She also served as a judge on several seasons of Super Singer Junior.
