The minds behind the last two Avengers films have opened up a bit on what to expect from their upcoming duology — Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, set for release in 2026 and 2027, respectively.

In a conversation with Deadline, the Russo Brothers, who have a new original film, The Electric State, coming up on Netflix, said they are shooting the Avengers films back-to-back in London. Despite the "lot of work" involved, they have expressed excitement at cracking the new entries in the MCU.

“We found a way into the story that we think is gonna be challenging for audiences, it’s challenging for us to execute. And it’s really exciting for us, it gets us out of bed to do it.”

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will see the return of Robert Downey Jr to the MCU, but as a different character, Dr Victor von Doom, who is likely to be pitted against the Fantastic Four and Sam Wilson's Captain America.

There were earlier rumours of former Captain America Chris Evans returning as well, but the actor has confirmed that his association with the MCU has ended, as of now.

The Russo Brothers also teased the possibility of characters from the other Marvel films showing up in the new Avengers without giving a clear answer.

The Electric State, on the other hand, is a sci-fi adventure based on Simon Stålenhag’s sci-fi graphic novel of the same name, which stars Chris Pratt, Millie Bobby Brown, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, and Giancarlo Esposito.

The Electric State will premiere on Netflix on March 14, 2025.
