Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha has revealed that he has not been in contact with Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn for nearly 18 years. Sinha, who worked with Devgn in the 2007 heist film Cash, shared that, though the director has attempted to reach out, Devgn has not reciprocated.

During an interview with The Lallantop, the 59-year-old said, “He never responds to my messages. We have never fought. He just doesn’t speak to me and I have no idea why. Since the making of Cash, we haven’t even met for me to tell you he ignored me or something. So, maybe, it's just me overthinking. However, I did text him a couple of times, and never received a response, so I told to myself that maybe it slipped his mind or he must have missed my message. But, it's been about 18 years since we have spoken.”

When asked if they had a falling out, he clarified, “We never had any disagreement between us. It was the producer and financier who had a disagreement. I was neither.”

However, Sinha recalled tweeting about people’s political views, which he suspects may have triggered the distance. “In between, I did comment on people’s political views, so I must have told him something too. But he was not the only person I commented about. I have said things to various people, but I still maintain good relations with them all. I am his admirer and I really respect him as an actor and individual.”

Cash centres around diamond heist predominately set in South Africa’s Cape Town. In addition to Devgn, the film also stars Suniel Shetty, Ritesh Deshmukh, Zayed Khan, Esha Deol, and Shamita Shetty.

Sinha recently directed the Netflix limited series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, which tells the story of the infamous commandeer of Indian Airlines Flight 814 from Kathmandu to Delhi in 1999.
