Actor Dulquer Salmaan has expressed shock at the Spanish tourist being gang raped in Jharkhand. The actor, on his Instagram stories, wrote, “This news broke me. Both of you had recently arrived in Kottayam. Had dinner with my close friends. This should not happen to anyone anywhere.”
The couple, who were touring India on a cycle, were en route to Nepal and had stopped at Dumka, to pitch a tent, when the incident took place.
The couple had said the men robbed them and beaten them. But, did not steal many things as their main motive was to rape her.
The incident took place at Kurumahat in the Hansdiha police station area, around 300 km from the state capital Ranchi, on Friday night when a tourist couple from Spain was spending the night at a makeshift tent.
"Superintendent of Police Pitamber Singh Kherwar himself went to the spot last night and is still camping there. Investigation is underway, and forensic teams have visited the spot. The survivor has been admitted to a hospital.
The crime occurred on the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Jharkhand and had expressed serious concerns over deteriorating law and order and extortion in the state, according to a PTI report.
