There have been much buzz around the period saga Adipurush, directed by Om Raut and starring Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan in the lead. A big-screen adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana, the teaser of the movie was released at a grand event in Ayodhya.

However, the teaser failed to impress the audience with many criticising the poor CGI and VFX. Some social media users also pointed out that the scenes in the teaser remind them of movies like the Avenger series and Planet of the Apes.

Some have also criticised the looks of Saif Ali Khan, who plays the antagonist, Lankesh in Adipurush.

“I loved Om Raut ji's 'Tanhaji:The Unsung Warrior(2020)' and I love Prabhas, but this Adipurush is straight up insult to Rāmayana,” wrote a user.

“This movie is an insult to Ramayan. Firstly why are Ravan and Hanuman not wearing Mukut? What kind of hair cut is Saif given?he’s looking like Khilji,” wrote another.

Another user said Rajamouli is the only director who could have done justice to the characters.

"Biggest scam in the history of Bollywood," wrote a user.

"...withdraw the release, remake the movie, attempt release again," demanded another.

A user said he is “Really eager to noe where exactly did they spend 500cr.”

Adipurush is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-series, Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles. The movie is slated to be released in theatres on January 12, 2023.
