Whenever we hear the word ‘fest,’ we engross ourselves in the thoughts of attractive lights, irresistible music, DJs, and savoring foods. Festember continues to grow and help create memories each year, living up to its name of "a fest to remember.
Festember, the most significant cultural festival in South India, was started by the students of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, as a zero-budget fest in 1975. Since then, it has attracted students from over 500 colleges across India. Apart from that, it has also been known to bring forth stalwarts from various fields, such as Jonty Rhodes, Nithya Menen, Amit Trivedi, Guns n Roses, and Karthick Iyer, to name a few.
Ranging from the mellifluous Fusion Night and the energy-fuelled EDM Night to the breathtaking Pop Night that blasts peppy numbers left, right, and center, Festember's proshows have been an integral part of the fest. This year Festember will be witnessing world-class artists like Jonita Gandhi, Swattrex, DJ Papa Balooshy, Mangas and Mango Men, and many more perform their inimitable shows on stage over the days of the fest. Apart from the exhilarating performances from these accomplished artists, Festember also has in store, epic comedy timings and witty jokes in a show hosted by none other than beloved comedian and host for Comicstaan - Abish Mathew.
The flagship “Carpe Diem” Guest lecture series never fails to garner the attention of the masses as household names in various fields such as music, sports, art, and the film industry graced the dais of Festember to share their insight and experiences with the audience. This year, Festember will also be hosting various inspiring personalities, recounting remarkable life moments, such as Dhruv Vikram - a talented actor-singer and lyricist in Tamil cinema; Meena Kandasamy - a poet and author with hard-hitting works under her belt; Ashwin Saravanan - a Kollywood filmmaker best known for his films Maya, Game Over and the upcoming movie ‘Connect’ and Adah Sharma - Model and an Actress with several hits under her belt and also the nominee for Best Actress debut at Filmfare awards. Attendees of the extravaganza have a plethora of cuisines to indulge their taste buds as they experience an all-round sensory treat. Festember encompasses many events related to dance, music, drama, lits, fashion, and more. Interesting workshops such as soap carving, magic and illusions, and ballroom waltz are also held, apart from many informal events.
