Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty's comments on SS Rajamouli's magnum opus RRR is trending on social media and have angered fans. Pookutty said the movie, which featured Ram Charan and Jr NTR in lead roles, is a 'gay love story'. He also said Alia was used as a 'prop' in the movie.

Pookutty was responding to Munish Bharadwaj's tweet where he called RRR garbage. The film which has largely received positive reviews and was a box office hit, is a period drama set in the pre-independence era. The story revolved around two real Indian revolutionaries in the 1920s—Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.

The film featured Alia and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles. RRR, one of the most successful Indian films of 2022, has minted over Rs 1,200 crore at the box office worldwide. Netflix recently revealed that said the Hindi version of Rajamouli's period action epic RRR has become "the most popular film from India" on the streamer globally.

Irked by Pookutty's comments, social media users said they did expect such a response form an Oscar winner.
