Ever since the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, fans have been debating about what happened to the Infinity Stones. Fans have been eagerly waiting for a return of the stones in movies slated to be released by marvel. Although the stones were destroyed in the beginning of Avengers: Endgame, Thanos had said that the stones had been reduced to atom. This had led to speculations that it was not fully destroyed.

Towards the end of the movie, Captain America had returned the stones to their respective timelines in parallel universes. Numerous theories had emerged on how the stones could make its way back to the Avengers plot-line. But now, Marvel has put an end to the theories and have confirmed that the Infinity Stones have been destroyed. A series of short videos on Instagram have revealed the fate of the stones.

Avengers: Endgame directors the Russo brothers had also reportedly said that the stones were just reduced to 'atoms', which led many to believe that the stones were far from being completely destroyed.  The stones were destroyed in the Marvel timeline, but are still intact in the parallel timelines after Captain America restored them. The most likely theory was that another villain would find a way to travel between the timelines and get their hands on the stones, just like how the Avengers did in Endgame, but the latest post from Marvel has dealt a huge blow to reuniting theories.
