Be it the original books or the television series, Game of Thrones has had a dedicated fan following. Though the final season of the show disappointed most viewers and critics alike, that hasn’t diminished the love for the epic fantasy book series.

Author George R.R. Martin on whose books the series was based, is currently working on The Winds of Winter, the penultimate book in the series. However, what has currently got fans excited is the possibility of a movie. According to a report in the express.co.uk, Martin threw some hints on the same on his Not a Blog website. While talking about the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon, he steered the conversation towards production work in Hollywood. “Hollywood has largely closed down as well, at least as far as actual production is concerned. Television right now is doing a lot to keep us all sane — and no, not the news, which has the opposite effect, he wrote.

“But while nothing is being filmed right now, development is continuing apace, since writers can still write at home,” he wrote. “The only thing I am writing myself is THE WINDS OF WINTER, as I have said many times… but with my producer’s hat on, I am still involved in a number of exciting new shows for HBO and a few film projects as well.”

He did not reveal further details. “As for the other stuff I may or may not be involved in, I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you all,” express.co.uk quoted him as saying.

House of the Dragon, the prequel to epic fantasy series Game of Thrones, is set to air in 2022, HBO president of programming Casey Bloys had said earlier. The pilot of the new prequel is set 300 years before the events of the flagship series and tells the story of House Targaryen, rich in the dragonlord ancestors of Daenerys (played by Emilia Clarke). GoT veteran Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal will serve as showrunners and are also attached to executive produce along with other GoT co-executive producers Martin and Vince Gerardis.
