Marvel movies may have shattered many box office records and have fan following across the globe. Some of them have even won Academy awards. But the comic book movies have failed to impress one of the most influential directors of contemporary cinema—Martin Scorsese.
According to media reports, speaking to Empire Magazine, the veteran director, whose upcoming Netflix original movie The Irishman will be released soon, compared superhero flicks to theme parks. He was, however, appreciative of the efforts actors put in when they are roped in Marvel movies.

Has he tried to watch a few of them? Well, the director admitted that he tried watching them. “I don’t see them. I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema. Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being," Scorsese was quoted as saying.
The Irishman, starring Joe Pesci, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in the lead, is a saga of organised crime in America, spanning several decades. The movie chronicles the mysterious disappearance of labor union boss Jimmy Hoffa, played by Al Pacino, in 1975.
