Ranu Mondal became an internet sensation overnight after a video of her singing on a railway platform went viral. And since then, she has stayed in the news with singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya making her sing in his film Teri Meri Kahaani. Mondal's interesting life journey may soon make it to the big screen, according to reports.

Independent filmmaker Hrishikesh Mondal is planning to helm a biopic on Mondal, IANS reported. National Award-winning Bengali actress Sudipta Chakraborty has been offered the role of the singer in the biopic. The film will chronicle Mondal's journey from the Ranaghat railway station in West Bengal, all the way to Bollywood.

"People are curious to know about Ranu Mondal's life. She became a singing sensation overnight thanks to social media, so people are very interested to know more about her. Also, the film will highlight the power of social media in the present times, which has turned roadside singer Ranu into a star," Hrishikesh told IANS. If Sudipta agrees to play Ranu in the film, the rest of the cast will be finalised soon and shooting could begin by October-end, said the director. The film will be titled Platform Singer Ranu Mondal.

The filmmaker has also visited Mondal to discuss about the film, and according to reports, she has requested him to avoid parts of her life that would hurt her.
