It was reported recently that Bollywood actor Vidya Balan will be playing former prime minister Indira Gandhi in a web series.
The actor, who is enjoying the success of her recent outing Mission Mangal, was asked at an event on Tuesday why at a time when many Bollywood actors appear to be trying to appease the current BJP dispensation at the Centre, she chose to essay the role of a Congress leader.
According to media reports, Vidya said when she thinks of a powerful woman, the first name that comes to her mind is that of Indira Gandhi.

"I am very party agnostic. I have nothing to do with any political party," she said, adding that the web series is not about any political party, but about an individual who goes beyond the part, she said.
Vidya had earlier said she has no idea when the series is likely to be completed. She said there is so much material available on Indira Gandhi to go through before making the series. The actor had brought rights to a book on Indira Gandhi two years ago with the intention of making it into a web series.
