On May 23, Kashyap took to Twitter to congratulate Modi on winning a second term, and asked him what should be done about his one of his followers who were threatening to rape his daughter. He posted a screenshot of a comment posted by the man on his daughter's Instagram page.
Dear @narendramodi sir. Congratulations on your victory and thank you for the message of inclusiveness. Sir please also tell us how do we deal with these followers of yours who celebrate your victory by threatening my daughter with messages like this for me being your dissenter. pic.twitter.com/jC7jYVBCi8

Kashyap was among 600 artistes who recently made an appeal to people to not vote for the BJP in the general elections.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit had criticised Kashyap for his tweet. "This twitter handle seems to be photoshopped because it doesn’t exist. Seems to be created by an #UrbanNaxal to give an opportunity to somebody to abuse #Modi when the entire World is happy," he wrote in response. Pandit and Kahsyap then went on heated exchange on Twitter.
